An online auction raising money for the Sir E Scott school choirs’ trip to the Royal National Mòd in Fort William is open for bids until the end of this month. The auction lots have been donated by supporters and include luxury local experiences such as dinner, bed and breakfast at Scarista House and dinner for four at Harris Hotel.

There are days away, such as a round of golf for four (plus lunch) at MacDonald Spey Valley resorts and works of art, from a framed painting from Skoon Gallery to a hazel and ram’s horn crook, made by the Isle of Harris Stickmaker. Treats include Harris gin and Scalpay shellfish.
Pupils from both Sir E Scott and Leverhulme Memorial schools are taking part in individual categories in this year’s Mòd, and Sir E Scott School’s junior and senior choirs are hoping to build on their success of previous years.
The auction, which closes at 8pm on September 30, is organised by the SES Mòd Parents committee, who say: “Each year we raise funds to escort the Sir E Scott School choirs to the Royal National Mòd. The costs include travel, accommo dation, meals and kilts/clothing, which can amount to several thousand pounds. Please help us to raise funds for our trip to Fort William.”
The school choirs are now in the final stages of rehearsals for the Gaelic cultural festival, which runs from October 10 to 18. They will take part in a special pre-Mod ceilidh at the Isle of Harris Distillery on Friday, 3rd October, from 2pm – at which supporters are welcome.
