Isla's new single recalls an island summer

A new single from Harris singer-songwriter Isla Scott is earning praise from fans and musicians alike.

Might Stay, by the former Sir E Scott pupil, was released by Wee Studio records, whose owner Keith Morrison described it as “absolute perfection.”

Isla, now a student at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, wrote the song while taking an online song-writing course last year.

“One evening the prompt was to write ‘a summer coming-of-age song’ which inspired me straight away. Might Stay, more or less in its entirety, appeared in front of me on the page within 40 minutes. That doesn’t happen often for me, so I knew this was a special one,” she said.

“The song’s all about realising too late the importance of the place you grew

up (Harris, of course!) and wanting to make the very most of your last summer before everyone inevitably goes down different paths. Thanks to Scott MacLeod who produced the song, and Keith Morrison at Wee Studio Records for all his support. And to Sadie Drye for the incredible photoshoot and cover art."
