Three AA rosettes for fantastic Flavour
An Urgha restaurant has become the first in the Outer Hebrides to be awarded three AA Rosettes. Flavour, where chef Chris Loye offers a memorable fine dining experience, was praised by inspectors for its “hyperlocal food in a unique setting.”
The restaurant was one of only eight from around the UK to receive the triple rosette rating, recognised internationally as a mark of excellence.
Three AA rosettes awarded for fantastic Flavour of Harris “Occupying a small building in Tarbert on the Isle of Harris, Flavour enjoys a spectacular setting overlooking the scattered islands around Scalpay,” said the AA report.
“Just a handful of tables face the open kitchen, creating an intimate dining experience centred on a surprise ten course tasting menu. Ingredients are foraged, fished and grown by the team, with the regularly changing menu reflecting the exceptional produce of the Outer Hebrides.”
Chris and his wife Nicola began their culinary venture nine years ago, welcoming guests to the kitchen of their home in Harris – a starting point that eventually led them to the AA Hospitality Awards ceremony at Grosvenor Hotel in London last week.
“This feels like a truly extraordinary moment for us,” they say. “Three AA Rosettes recognise restaurants that are an outstanding culinary destination that achieves standards demanding national recognition well beyond its local area.
