North Harris Community Council looks ahead to a new year

At the end of 2023 a new CommunityCouncil was elected to serve the area of North Harris, with similar Community Councils serving Scalpay and South Harris. The new

Community Council has the following representatives:

Catherine Macdonald

David Macdonald

Gordon Macdonald

John Macleod

Mary M Macleod

Dr Frances Ann Miller

Agnes Morrison

The purpose of a Community Council is to carry out the following:

a) to ascertain, co-ordinate and reflect the views of the community which it represents, to liaise with other community groups within the area, and to fairly express the       diversity of opinions and outlooks of the people;

b) to express the views of the community to The Comhairle, public authorities and organisations;

c) to take such action in the interest of the community as appears to be desirable and     practicable;

d) to promote the well-being of the community and to foster community spirit;

e) to be a means whereby the people of the area shall be able to voice their opinions on any matter affecting their lives, their welfare, their environment, its development, and amenity.

It is the desire of the North Harris Community Council to be proactive in reaching the above goals but to do so through continued

community engagement. To that end we will be posting notice of meetings and any relevant announcements here in the De tha Dol? or online through social media channels which we will set up in due course.

If you, or anyone you know, has any issue that you would like addressed by the Community Council then please contact myself: chair.nhcc@outlook.com

or the secretary, secretary.nhcc@outlook.com or speak informally with any of the other representatives above who will be more than willing to support you with your concern.

Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday 5th February 2024.

Look out for more updates and ways that we will engage with you over the coming weeks and months as we seek to serve the North

Harris Community.
