Residents and staff at Harris House Care Home have thanked all those who contributed to their Valentine’s Day celebrations earlier this month, which saw cards and gifts being sent to Tarbert from as far away as California - and even a visit from a local TV crew.
The team have shared the following message of thanks.

“Thank you to everyone that took the time to send cards and gifts to the residents of Harris House for Valentine’s Day. It was overwhelming the kindness shown by locals and total strangers. We received 175 cards in total including some fabulous home made ones by the local Sgoil Àraich (nursery school).
We were gifted lots of sweets and home made gifts such as Harris Tweed brooches, a beautiful cross stitch picture, a crocheted holder full of chocolates and some beautiful postcards as well. All the raffle prizes were also donations. This raised over £100 for the Harris House comfort fund.”
Mairianna, the carer who organised the event said: “The highlight was the Sgoil Àraich children distributing the cards to the residents, as well as our oldest resident posting the first card, which she had written personally.”
