Two exceptional Harris self-catering properties have gained national attention after featuring in the BBC Scotland programme Scotland’s Greatest Escapes.
The Broch, on the Borve Lodge Es-tate, won the ‘Unique and Unusual’ category in the programme that was broadcast in February, and went on to be named overall win-ner in the final which was shown last week.
The Blue Hare, a new property in Lingerbay, featured in the Island and Coastal category and received praise from the judges for its design and views.
Writing on the Borve Lodge Estate blog, the owners said: “To say we have been blown away by the re-sponse to our win is an understate-ment, with so many messages of congratulations and support from everyone on our social media, email
and telephone calls.”
“We were up against some very stiff competition, all of whom shone in their own category, so the judges had quite a tough time.
“But, the Broch was the star of the show and the whole ethos of the Estate and the hard work of our team was reflected in the pro-gramme and the judges’ decision
making.”
“The series also included another property from Harris, the Blue Hare in Lingerbay, and we hope these appearances will inspire visitors to come to the island, not just to stay with us, but also at all the other wonderful accommodation the is-land has to offer, from cottages to castles, B&B to bothies.”
