Walking Football competition comes to Harris

Cammy Morrison

On Saturday 7 September, the first walking football competition will take place in Harris to raise money for community charities.

Local lads Dougie Ferguson and Ali Duce set up a walking football group last year and have been meeting up with friends and (making new friends) every Monday in the school hall from 7pm - 9pm.

Dougie said: “This new activity for Harris has proved very popular over the last 12 months with men and women from 7 – 70 years regularly playing each week.”

Ali commented: “It’s a great way of staying fit at your own pace. Everyone can feel the health benefits of Walking Football.”

Now this activity has been established, Dougie and Ali thought a great way to promote this sport and raise some funds for local charities would be to host a walking football tournament.

If you would like to enter a team or just find out more information about walking football, please speak to Dougie or Alli or get in touch with The Harris Sports Centre.
