A group of dancers from Harris took their first Highland Dancing exams – or for older entrants, their first since be-fore the pandemic - on Saturday, and a 100% pass rate was achieved. The dancers, aged from four upwards, train with Claire Wilson School of Dance, and were among around 60 young entrants from Lewis and Harris who were tested on their skills at Breasclete Community Centre.
A special mention to Orla MacLeod, who was unable to join in with her friends because she had chicken pox, but still successfully completed her exam virtually.
While the full results will not be available for several weeks, the BATD examiner confirmed that everyone had been successful. “I’m pleased, proud and chuffed,” said teacher Claire. “Congratulations to everyone.”
The dancers are now busy preparing for their next challenge, the Harris Highland Dancing Society’s Competition, which will be held at Sir E Scott School on Saturday, March 23rd.
