Ben Nevis climb raises thousands for local care homes

Chirsty Macleod

Walkers of all ability levels must get a great deal of satisfaction in reaching the summit of Ben Nevis, Scotland’s highest mountain. On Friday 12 July this year, Catriona Macleod (13 yrs old) and Katie Tennant (14 yrs old) decided to take on this challenge and at the same time fundraise for a local charity.

This is no easy climb for any young person, but they were determined to succeed and raised the incredible sum of £3,000 for Leverburgh Home of Rest and Harris House.

I don’t think Catriona or Katie will be rushing back to repeat this feat, but they would not have reached the summit had it not been for the amazing support and encouragement of our local community on Harris.
